new toys

Our connections to the internet turned towards unbearable as we hardly could receive any connection in the evening hours. Because of hills and valleys in the immediate surroundings we found it difficult to cannect to slower broadbend high-speed. So we fianlly decided to go to the premium service. Now we have a high tower behind the house and we receive high-speed from lyndhurst. It is not cheap but we decided to share the cost with John amd Mary- Ann. On my 81 birtday our children surprised us with e new lsd 22in new monitor and also a program windows live and windows Live Call. So this afternoon I had a nice talk witk Uncle Cor in Calgary. We had his livingroom and him by his computer on our full screen and he had our picture on his full screen and talk back and forth. Just amazing! I also bought a Jazz digital camcorder/ camera and I took some picture of our dafodils( Mom counted about over 900 blooming and also many tulips. On the camera are so many buttons and functions it will take me a long time to learn.
We keep busy with garden work. We go twice a week to seniors exercised and try to keep in shape. After exercise we usually stiff as a corn broom. But it is good for us. Well I am t0 go for supper. So long

Winter Wonderland

It seems months ago since I wrote my last post. I quess I am just too busy to sit down at the computer and start writing. Perhaps another reason might be that we as Geertsema's are not very proficient writers. Probably I could add many more excuses. Well I did purchase another computer and although most of the time it was willing to do the work it is supposed to do it has the annoying nuisance of starting and after a few seconds it would turn off. I did bring it in to the seller in town but it took several trips back and forth before the problem was fixed. I have had it working flawlessly for about a whole week. So far so good! Mom and I have been busy with selling Gouda cheese as a fund raising endeaver for the Heritage Christian School. Since the beginning of this school year we have raised nearly $ 500.00. Since parents do not receive any money, they are required to pay for all tuitions themselves This particular fund raising is
<:AtomicElement> to for the student fund for extras. We did cut 47 whole wheels and we diviide these into halves, quarters and into eights and then we vacuum pack them. Last week I did manage to buy an used cheese cutter. It is made in Europe and it used a steel wire to cut the cheese. Today I used it for the first time and it works fine and it will help a lot with cutting It sa been a very snowy winter so far. During one storm we received about 50cm at one time; we probably had already that much on the ground. However last week we had warm weather and all the snow disappeard so Sunday when we celebrated Beth's 81st birthday we hadno snow no ice on the lake and our younger grandchildren were kind of disappointed. We did get about 10cm snow on Monday. And we had a beautiful time with about 20 of our children and grandchildren. We just thank the Lord for His goodness and faithfulness.

Our Last Trip

September 21, 2007.

It is already a month ago that I entered our blog with some of our happenings. We seem always too busy to find time but I will try again.
Last week we went to Southern Ontario. Our first stop was Caledonia; south of Hamilton. There we stopped at John and Corrie De Groot. I believe the year was 1951. I had gone to Church in Hamilton where we lived at that time . On entering the bus going home, a young couple also entered the same bus, and noticing they were speaking Dutch I began a conversation with them and invited them home for coffee. Since then we became good friends. Their house is located on land that is claimed by the Indians.
Provincial Park. That Later in the late afternoon we continued our trip to Jarvis and visited David and Stephanie and we had a lovely dinner with them. The next day we continued our trip and went to Thamesville We had a good time there. They grow lots of red, yellow, and orange peppers in their greenhouses. The following day we visited Diny and Trudy who were camping in the Pinery. That evening we went all for dinner in Grand Bend. Next day we went back home; stopped by Uncle Sjabbe. All in all we had a good trip.

Our visit to Steve and Katrina

Last Friday Mom and I traveled to Steve and Katrina It was beautiful weather and we had a very good trip. First we stopped at Uncle auke and aunt Addy and heard most of their family news. We then went to Barrie and made supper in our own trailer. The trailer had been used by John and his family at Balsam Lake and the following week by Steve and Katrina. We then visited with Steve and Katrina and Naomi and the new baby Petra Marie. We slept overnight in the trailer and on Saturday we first made some more family visit. First to Uncle Bob and aunt Marie and then to Uncle Leon and aunt Annie. We tried uncle Jim and Sjabbe but they were not home. We the went back to Stevin and we had pizza brought in. Mr. and mrs Triemstra, great oma van Gilst, grandpa and grandma Van Gilst, great opa and oma Geertsema and opa and oma Geertsema were all there and we had a good time. On sunday we had the privilege of witnessing the baptism of Petra. Beautiful service and we were glad to the Lord that we could b e there.
